Standard Chartered: Short-term support for Hang Seng Index at 19,000 points, S&P 500 index target at 6,650 points.

, Standard Chartered Wealth Management's Global Chief Investment Officer released the latest market views from his office, pointing out that the policy decisions announced by US President Trump on his first day in office as expected, caused market fluctuations. However, Asian stock markets saw little change on Tuesday, with the Hong Kong stock market rising after Trump postponed imposing specific tariffs on China. The bank believes that the short-term support level for the Hang Seng Index is 19,000 points, and maintains its basic expectation unchanged, that the index will be between 20,000 and 22,500 points in the short term. The report stated that after Trump took office, he abolished the order requiring electric cars to account for 50% of new car sales in the US by 2030, and froze unused funds for charging infrastructure, benefiting traditional energy companies while impacting the electric car and clean energy industries. Technically, Standard Chartered believes that the short-term support level for the S&P 500 index is 5870, followed by 5674. The 12-month target level for the S&P 500 index is 6650. After Trump indicated that he may impose a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico before February 1, the US Dollar Index (DXY) recovered from its early losses. The Canadian and Mexican currencies fell against the US dollar by more than 1%, then rebounded. Technical indicators returned to neutral levels, and as the market awaits Canada's response, the US dollar against the Canadian dollar may narrow slightly between 1.42-1.46. In addition, the People's Bank of China set the reference rate for the renminbi at the highest level since November 8, showing support for the currency. Immediate support is at the 200-day moving average level of 7.2170.
