Customers who are new to the private equity market have significantly increased their investments in private equity funds, indicating a growing interest in this investment category.
HSBC held a private equity market forum in Hong Kong last Wednesday, providing a series of private equity investment viewpoints and strategies for high net worth and ultra high net worth clients by renowned investment managers. HSBC Global Private Banking has shown strong performance in the alternative investment field this year, benefiting from strong fund inflows, with the asset management scale of alternative investments recording double-digit growth. Clients who are first-time exposed to the private equity market have significantly increased their investments in private equity market funds, demonstrating a growing interest in this investment category. At the opening speech, Kevin Lee, Regional Director of HSBC Global Private Banking Asia Pacific, pointed out that incorporating private equity market investments into the investment portfolio is helping to increase risk-adjusted returns for investors facing market volatility and inflation concerns. With its global scale, connection with HSBC's alternative investments, and extensive network, HSBC Global Private Banking brings clients the investment strategies of top-tier investment managers and exclusive investment opportunities. In addition, Matthew, Head of Global and Asia Pacific Alternative Investments at HSBC Global Private Banking and Wealth Management, noted that personal clients' interest in investing in the private equity market has significantly increased in recent years. The industry has also seen changes, expanding investment opportunities for ultra high net worth investors. Recent HSBC research shows that only a quarter of high net worth investors in Hong Kong have access to various alternative investment products, but over seventy percent of investors are confident in making related investments. Looking ahead, they will continue to provide alternative investment products that meet clients' needs and work together to enhance their investment strategies. According to HSBC's research, real estate (64%) and private equity (56%) are the most popular asset classes among high net worth investors in Hong Kong who are paying attention to the private equity market.
